Applying advanced BIM technology in data management
The Viasys VDC team is participating to an EU-funded INTERMODEL project within the EU Horizon 2020 program. The project goal is to improve cargo terminal planning, construction and maintenance with the help of cutting-edge BIM technology. Advanced BIM technology is applied to improve data workflows and to facilitate integrations between different simulation and analysis tools. The Viasys VDC offering allows design, construction and maintenance stakeholders to combine BIM models from city modeling, building modeling and infrastructure modeling into one single master information model, which provides a holistic digital overview of the constructed site supporting advanced interactive planning and project management.
Below a snapshot of the INTERMODEL general meeting in Kiruna (March 2017) where the steering group focused on studying the development of the Kiruna wagons bulk handling system as well as Kiruna iron ore mine activities deep down in the mountain.
The focus of the EU-funded INTERMODEL initiative is to develop future improvements to the European Freight Railway by studying transshipment operations between rail and other transport modes and by applying out-of-the-box thinking in order to come up with digital construction, logistics and maintenance solutions.
